About the Authors

RONALD L. KRUTZ, Ph.D., P.E., CISSP, ISSEP, is a senior information system security consultant. Prior to this position, Dr. Krutz was chief technical officer for Threatscape Solutions, Inc., and a senior information systems security researcher in the Advanced Technology Research Center of Lockheed Martin Information Technologies. He has over thirty years of experience in distributed computing systems, computer architectures, real-time systems, information assurance methodologies, and information security training. He has been a senior information security consultant at BAE Systems and REALTECH Systems Corporation, an associate director of the Carnegie Mellon Research Institute (CMRI), and a professor in the Carnegie Mellon University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He was also a lead instructor for (ISC)2 in their CISSP training seminars. Dr. Krutz founded the CMRI Cybersecurity Center and was founder and director of the CMRI Computer, Automation, and Robotics Group. Dr. Krutz conducted sponsored-applied research and development in the areas of computer security, artificial intelligence, networking, modeling and simulation, robotics, and real-time computer applications.
