It’s not as if the entire ecosystem hasn’t recognized the dichotomy of the incumbent financing cohort’s deteriorating ability to serve innovation, just as the modern complexity economy is exponentially driving potentials of innovation. As in all complex systems in disequilibrium, natural forces and interactions arise that push the system toward a more balanced state. In terms of the early financing of innovation, that push has been manifested in a fairly recent proliferation of mechanisms focused on the early start-up or project phase.
