Chapter Twenty-Six. Silence and Solitude

The jackhammers started early today and I can barely hear myself think. My studio is in a converted warehouse and they are making some improvements next door. So I crank up my music in a feeble attempt to drown out the noise. It doesn’t work. I have to get out of here. As I pack up my laptop, I think of Swiss philosopher Max Picard’s words: “Nothing has changed the nature of man so much as the loss of silence.”
