YOU HAVE THE POWER

Even when you’ve earned a position of power, there may be times when others won’t accept it.

A month after receiving the command of the 318th Press Camp, I was promoted to lieutenant colonel. The press camp was deployed to Egypt in support of the United States Third Army for a three-week exercise, and I was assigned to work for a two-star Egyptian general. I was excited to see Egypt and work with the general. Women do not serve in the Egyptian Army, but I was confident that I could make it work based on my experiences serving with other foreign commanders in Thailand and Korea. Nope! I was wrong.
