Preface to Part II

If you’re like me, you want to lead others to solve their own challenges—your co-workers or people you lead at work, friends and family. Your challenge is doing that in a way that really helps, without annoying, nagging, pushing, or manipulating them.

I wanted to help people; that’s why I trained as a counselor. Trouble was, counseling wasn’t really helping as much I thought it would.

I trained in both counseling (my Master’s is in counseling) and coaching (certified by Adler Graduate Institute). Over the years I developed a strong bias that coaching is often more effective than counseling for helping “the worried well.”
