OLAP Universes

Within a BI deployment, OLAP databases provide a way of aggregating data to provide speed of thought analysis and complex, multidimensional calculations. In SAP BusinessObjects 4.0, users can connect directly to SAP BW InfoCubes and Microsoft Analysis cubes via the web-based Analysis edition for the OLAP interface. This allows users to explore data, drill, and create charts. However, it provides limited formatting options.

To enable users to interact with Microsoft Analysis Services or Oracle Essbase cubes via Web Intelligence, you must create a business layer.
