When to Disable Lists of Values

By default, lists of values are enabled on all objects, including measures. This is slightly different behavior than with the Universe Design Tool and earlier versions. There are instances in which it is better to disable them by removing the check from the Associate List of Values check box.

As discussed in the previous chapter, all measure objects should have a SQL aggregate (SUM, COUNT, and so on) in the SELECT statement. Therefore, if you have a list of values on a measure object, the list of values will return only one row of data, since there are no dimensions in the GROUP BY clause in the SQL.
