Bernard Liautaud cofounded Business Objects in France in 1990. In the first quarter of 2008, SAP completed the acquisition of Business Objects. Once a niche vendor, Business Objects reached one billion in revenues in 2005. SAP says business analytics now accounts for a sizable portion of its new revenues. According to industry analyst firm IDC, SAP BusinessObjects is the market leader in BI tools by a wide margin. In speaking about the company’s latest BI release, SAP chief technology officer (CTO) Vishal Sikka claimed that version 4.0 is the “best release ever of BusinessObjects.”
