A Broader BI Suite
Since its inception, the BI market has been highly fragmented. The year 2007 brought significant industry consolidation, and in 2008, SAP completed the acquisition of Business Objects. In 2007, Oracle acquired Hyperion, and in 2008, IBM acquired Cognos. Vendors who were once only hardware and database partners are now competitors in BI. With this consolidation and increased move to enterprise BI, many customers thought BI standardization in the form of a single solution from a single vendor was the best path for enterprise BI.
