Calculations

Calculations allow you to add subtotals and other aggregate calculations (such as minimum, maximum, average, and count) to a table that contains breaks. If the table does not contain any breaks, then the calculations inserted are grand totals for the entire block. The calculations are added to the break footer as formulas.

The calculations that are available are context-sensitive, depending on the object data type (character, date, or number). For example, you may want to count the number of product categories that exist in a product line, but the product category object could never be summed. Therefore, only numeric measure objects can be used as input to the sum, average, and percentage calculations.
