Running an enterprise BI deployment without usage monitoring is like driving at night with no headlights turned on and no dashboard gauges: it’s dangerous and bound to lead to a crash! With a departmental deployment, you may not have the personnel to proactively monitor usage and system performance. You only know there is a problem when users start complaining. With critical deployments and enterprise deployments, you must be more proactive. You need to anticipate problems before they happen. Equally important, you must take care to evaluate that your design is meeting the needs of the users. If you’ve built reports and universes that are not widely used, you have a problem.
