Benchmark Queries

As you make changes to the universe and extend your implementation, it is important that either the designer or the power users develop standard reports that can be used to benchmark performance. Clearly, the universe is only one component that affects performance. However, if SAP BusinessObjects is the interface that users see, it will get blamed entirely for performance issues. When a universe or report is poorly designed, or the Enterprise server is overloaded, such blame may be appropriate. However, if the database is improperly tuned, users will still lament, “BusinessObjects is slow.”
