In Chapter 4, we reviewed the building blocks of a universe, the importance of aligning the universe with business goals, and techniques for iterative development. In that chapter, you learned that SAP BusinessObjects 4.0 administrators use the Information Design Tool (IDT) to build universes. For those who initially deployed on XI, the Universe Design Tool (formerly known as Designer) is also supported in version 4.0. However, the Universe Design Tool is provided primarily as a way of maintaining XI universes that you are not ready to migrate.
In this chapter, you’ll learn how to work with the IDT interface and the key parameters that help you build the universe.
