“Incoming!” Receiving a Fax

The ability to broadcast a fax from your computer to the far corners of the planet is handy, to say the least. However, my favorite part of computer-based faxing is the opposite chore: receiving incoming faxes.

Setting Up Fax Receiving

You probably need to configure Windows Fax and Scan to answer incoming faxes. Here are the steps to follow:

1. Select Tools>Fax Settings. The Fax Properties dialog box appears.

2. In the General tab, activate the Allow the device to receive fax calls check box.

3. Select one of the following options:

Manually answer. Activate this option to answer incoming calls manually. This is the best option if you have a single phone line that you use for both voice and fax calls.
