Gaining consensus is the all-important process of getting honest buy-in from the people involved that all aspects of the project are understood and agreed upon. Further, consensus implies that people chosen for certain roles will accept them and that the goals are SMART (meaning they’re specific, measurable, agreed upon, realistic, and timely). Before you proceed with the project, consensus must be reached on the charter. Give the stakeholders plenty of time to give their input.
