The Cash Flow Statement
I wrap up this introduction to financial statements with the cash flow statement. This is also called the statement of sources and uses of cash, but, for brevity, let’s stick with calling it the cash flow statement.
The cash flow statement shows the sources and uses of the cash that flowed through the company during a period—typically a year, but always the same period that the accompanying balance sheet and income statement covers. This statement shows where the company’s money came from and where it was spent during the period.
