Most companies do a decent, if incomplete, job of considering their resources. In assessing your company’s resources, you must consider the resources you need, as well as those you have. These needs are dictated by the company’s goals and by the threats and opportunities in the environment. Your most important resources include these:
• Product profitability and growth
• Productive capacity
• Other resources

Profitability and Growth
Regarding the profitability of current products, you must answer these questions: Which product lines and activities are making money? Which are not? How do we create more money-making ones? How do we phase out unprofitable ones?
