Have you ever had one (or more) of those employees who just don’t seem to get it? You tell someone over and over again what you want him to do, and he stands there scratching his head? Well, he just may not be that great of an employee. Or maybe he’s just not responding to your leadership style.
I’ve seen this again and again with managers who don’t understand that a leadership style that works well with some employees doesn’t work well with others. Managers who don’t know how to match their leadership style to the needs of their employees—or simply aren’t interested in doing so—will not get the best from their workers.
