Recognizing and Dealing with Performance Problems

If you’ve established job expectations and standards, communicated them effectively, consistently monitored employee performance, and remained attentive to what goes on in your workplace, performance problems should be easy for you to identify.
For example, you’ll know if Jack isn’t getting outgoing mail collected in time to meet the pickup schedule. Another employee will mention the mail problem, or you’ll see packages with incorrect shipping addresses returned as undeliverable. Likewise, you’ll know if Alexa hasn’t been following up with guests to make sure they were happy with their experiences at your day spa; you’ll notice on her e-mail log that she didn’t contact some guests.
