Sustainability, Politics, and Policies

Let’s start with the term sustainability itself. Sustainability, in an economic context, refers to the fact that certain practices of consumers, businesses, and governments can generate or at least contribute to long-term economic growth and others cannot. Practices that can generate long-term growth are sustainable and those that cannot are unsustainable. (Long term generally means 10 or more years into the future, but usually less than 100.)
