The Art of the Online Interview
Typically, an online interview is a face-to-face interview conducted over the Internet using some form of communications software (Skype is a popular example) that provides real-time audio-video conferencing. All videoconferencing software systems are VoIP solutions. This stands for “Voice Over Internet Protocol” and is a means of transmitting both voice and video over the Internet; the interviewer(s) as well as the interviewee see and hear one another. Whereas the dedicated hardware videophone, called the Picturephone when it debuted to the public back in 1970, failed to gain widespread acceptance, PC- and Mac-based videoconferencing has become commonplace.
