Getting Serious Online
“We’re in an Internet revolution,” the pundit says. To which we answer, “Thank you, Paul Revere.”
It’s very old news, and the phrase “Internet revolution” is worn out precisely because it expresses something so obviously true. During the past decade or so, we have come to rely on the Internet to transact more and more of our business, both personal and professional. The web is a library, a communications device, a news source, a bank, and the mother of all mega-malls. No wonder we believe that a really great job is just a few mouse clicks away.
It is high time to see the Internet for what it is, at least as far as getting a job interview goes. It is a tool—a powerful and very useful tool, to be sure, but a tool first ...
