CREATING MONOPRINTS

Monoprinting is a form of printmaking that creates just one print from the printing plate. One benefit of monoprinting is that no special equipment is necessary. The basic tools required are block-printing inks (acrylic or oil-based) or paints, a sheet of acetate or plastic, and a brayer or roller. It is an improvisational process with few rights or wrongs.

To begin, using a paintbrush and printing inks (or paints) begin painting directly onto the acrylic plastic or plastic sheet. You can place an image underneath the plastic to use as a guide.
