CHAPTER 9:Compelling Coaching Techniques

This chapter addresses the definition, types, and timing of coaching. It points out how to use factual feedback within the coaching conversation. Emphasis is on revisiting performance expectations, providing help, and maintaining the relationship. Whether the employee believes that coaching is of benefit to her depends partially on how the manager positions the feedback and sets the tone for coaching. A manager must ask questions, listen, and convey friendliness to be an effective coach.
