Looking Beyond the Obvious

Countless schools are eager to welcome talented, promising students of color, but many minority students limit their choices to only the most obvious picks. For instance, according to Excelencia in Education, a nonprofit policy group, about half of Hispanic undergraduate students attend just 6% of the nation’s colleges and universities.

These schools are considered Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) because 25% or more of the undergraduate student body are Hispanics.
