Feedback

Feedback is a two-way street. It should flow down the organization from management to employee, as well as up the organization from employee to management. It needs to be given in the form of praise and reprimand, as well as formal performance reviews. Frequent, informal feedback is required by all team members. “Inspect what you expect” can be used to praise those doing something right just as well as it can be used to find exceptions.

Employees need to inform management about what works and what doesn’t. If this is going to happen, it is necessary for management to listen and answer the concerns of employees by making adjustments where needed, or at least explaining why a situation has to stay the way it is.
