The dictionary definition of respect relates to admiration, having regard for another, and practicing various elements of etiquette. Otis Redding and Aretha Franklin sing a song about R-E-S-P-E-C-T, one of the most popular songs ever recorded. The military trains recruits to automatically say “Sir” and “Ma’am,” and to honor the hierarchy of ranks with a salute to any superior officer.
