Starting Habits

Let’s talk about how to create a new habit. It begins with having a good reason to spend the time and effort in trying to learn a new one. This can be called your why. Why do you want to develop this habit? The bigger your why, the better the odds are that you will win and create the new habit.

The why needs to relate to your goals, which are ideally based on your values. The next step is to design an action that will get you started. Some would call this a trigger event. In sales, we know that the ultimate trigger in making the buying decision is based on some emotional consideration that may or may not be apparent to the buyer. A professional salesperson will recognize it.
