Hash marks

The third discipline I suggest is to use hash marks, just some simple lines, to indicate transportation time. This is another form of blocking time to be done in your book or smartphone. Often we think of a meeting as lasting one hour. However, when you put hash marks before and after the meeting for transportation time required, you realize it really cost you two hours to attend the one-hour meeting. Make sure your plan is flexible and has some open time for the unexpected. You now have a picture of your day and can change it if you don’t like what you see.
