WILLIAM MOUGAYAR is a general partner at Virtual Capital Ventures, a boutique style, early-stage technology venture capital firm, focused on decentralized technologies and applications. Based in Toronto, the VcapV fund is advised and backed by some of the industry’s top players.

William is on the board of directors of OB1, the OpenBazaar open source protocol that is pioneering decentralized peer-to-peer commerce; a special board advisor to the Ethereum Foundation, the leading blockchain technology platform for decentralized applications; a member of OMERS Ventures Board of Advisors, one of Canada’s top venture capital firms; an advisory board member to the Coin Center, the Washington DC-based leading non-profit research and advocacy center focused on the public policy issues facing cryptocurrency technologies, a board advisor to Bloq, founder of Startup Management, and Techstars mentor.

In the early Internet years, he was the founding chairman of CommerceNet Canada, and authored two books, Opening Digital Markets (McGraw-Hill, 1997), and The Business Internet and Intranets (Harvard Business School Press, 1997).

William started and raised money for three companies (two of them were sold), Engagio, Eqentia, and CYBERManagement.
