A PRETTY BONICA MEILLAND STOOD in a large ceramic Spanish pot by the boutique’s entrance. Suspended above the door was a softly coloured lilac sign, hand painted in a dark mauve Cochin font that read: Camera Della Moda.

The boutique’s exterior was painted in a gentle pink and whisper white. A large window revealed two classical mannequins. One dressed in a pretty Carven, the other, a DVF (Diane von Furstenberg). The uncluttered window tempted passing inquisitive shoppers to scan the boutique’s generous white space, bordered by polished silver rails with wooden hangers that shouldered rows of designer labels.
