About the Author

Erika Garms, PhD, has worked in the human and organization development fields for more than 25 years. She began her career in public education in Colorado as an elementary school teacher and soon became involved in staff development and curriculum design at the district, state, and national levels. As an educator, she piloted many innovative techniques and programs in her classroom, helping to evaluate the practicality and provide recommendations for adaptations to the methods and material. She also served as the districtwide K-12 gifted and talented program coordinator in a large, Twin Cities metropolitan school district.
