BEM for Dynamic Analysis of Plates

Abstract

This Chapter presents the BEM for linear and nonlinear dynamic analysis of plates. First the direct BEM is presented using the dynamic fundamental solution. Then the initial boundary value problem governing the nonlinear vibrations of plates under combined membrane prestress is considered and solved by the analog equation method (AEM). The influence of the membrane forces is investigated. The buckling of plates using the dynamic criterion is discussed and the linear and nonlinear flutter instability of plates under nonconservative loads examined.
