Repeat Last Effect
Note the Repeat Last Effect (ctrl-R) command at the top of the Effect menu. This is a fast way to apply the same effect with the same settings over and over. The Effects menu is a bit inconvenient because the effects go away when you click OK, so when you need the same effect over and over, it gets a bit tedious to wade through the whole menu again and again.
