Overdubbing

Overdubbing is recording a new track while listening to an existing track or tracks. Overdubbing is one way to record an entire symphony by yourself, one track at a time. It’s also for simpler projects, of course, such as recording yourself playing a couple of different instruments and singing, doing pretty harmony with yourself, or recording when everyone but the drummer showed up and you’re going to record without her (she can record her parts later).
