Creating High-Quality Recordings in Audacity

Your starting point is the highest-quality audio files you can create. This does not necessarily mean recording at the highest possible sampling and bitrates, but using good recording techniques to produce the best-sounding recordings. As we discussed in Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, a lot of factors affect the quality of your audio recordings: background noise, microphone placement, the quality of your mics, preamp, analog-to-digital converter, and the power of your computer.

Audacity supports up to 32/192 recording, so let’s see what the pros and cons are of using higher resolutions.
