Many users are first drawn to R because of its impressive graphical flexibility and the ease with which you can control and tailor the resulting visuals. In this chapter, you’ll take a closer look at the base R graphics device, and at how you can fine-tune the plots you’re already familiar with, to get the most use out of your visualizations. In the chapters that follow, you’ll then expand your repertoire in both ggplot2 and traditional R graphics.
