The year 2009 was the last for several household names. Some, such as Michael Jackson and pitchman Billy Mays, died unexpectedly, while others, such as iconic actress Farrah Fawcett, beloved TV host and announcer Ed McMahon, former NFL player and idiosyncratic politician Jack Kemp, Pulitzer Prize-winning author John Updike, CBS News anchor Walter Cronkite, Vietnam war architect Robert McNamara, Watergate informant Mark “Deep Throat” Felt and popular radio broadcaster Paul Harvey passed due to age or illness. Regardless, each of their lives and deaths were news and cartoon-worthy.
