If the beauty we are seeking is already present in some nascent form, how do we find it and feed it? An old joke comes to mind: A tourist in New York City asks a local man in dark glasses lounging on the street corner, “How do you get to Carnegie Hall?” and is told, “Practice, man, practice.… “ And how do we find the beauty in the beast? Practice, man, practice.… The answer comes from a source different from the question. The question desires a destination; the answer declares a process. The practice of seeking the beauty is the finding. The beauty is in the dynamic of the process.
