Science Fiction

Authors of the past have foreseen many of the inventions and social changes that are now a reality. We don’t have flying cars yet, but space exploration, the atomic bomb, and robotics are all realities that were imagined in science fiction well before they were brought to us by engineers. Science fiction provides us with the ability to travel to possible futures so we can be inspired by the progress or learn from our mistakes before we make them. The rich tradition of these foreign worlds have created some iconic characters and props, which I will tackle in this chapter.
