In this chapter, we discuss how the EIA Reference Architecture and the related Component and Operational Model can be applied to the utility industry. We introduce typical business scenarios for the utility industry and apply the logical architecture and operational patterns for a new solution concept that is called the Intelligent Utility Network (IUN).
