REAL-LIFE SHOT: LOCKOFF CAMERA

Let's look at a real life shot and put some of this theory into practice! To get started, we'll take our trusty matchmove checklist and see what's what with our new shot.

Determine What Needs to Be Done

The first thing to do, of course, is to determine what happens in the shot. Watch the entire sequence to which your shot belongs, if at all possible. Get a feel for what's happening in the sequence. Is it an action sequence? What happens in the shots before and after yours? Are there other shots similar – or exactly like – yours?
