Case Study: How to Get Funding for Your Program

This, the second of three practice assignments, asks you to walk in Walt Bradley’s shoes. Walt is the production manager in a plant producing a very profitable family of pressed wood products used primarily in new home construction. The plant has three production lines, each of which was added over a period of years as demand for the products increased. The forecast predicts further increases in demand, enough to exceed plant capacity in about one year. In anticipation, the company has developed new technology. With it, additional capacity will be gained at lower cost by upgrading the oldest of the existing three lines rather than building a fourth line.
