Chapter 4: Watching Game Tapes
Luke’s flight to LA was long and tiring but arrived on schedule at 7:30 A.M. When he got to the baggage claim area, Luke looked around for Scott Simms, who had agreed to pick him up. Luke checked his watch and then headed toward a row of seats to wait. After another fifteen minutes had gone by, he called Scott’s phone.
“Hello,” a sleepy-sounding voice said.
“Scott?”
“Yeah.”
“This is Luke. Where are you?”
A long pause punctuated by a brief confession: “In bed.”
Trying to control himself, Luke told Scott to meet him at the hotel in thirty minutes and hung up, as Scott attempted to apologize.
