WHO ARE THE OLD?

The conventional definition of the old is a person above 65. The figure is a historical accident, but still authors very often stick to this figure and some even take the cut-off age as 60. However, we all know that today nobody gets old at 60 or 65 and an average person remains fine at that age.

The reason is simple. In most developed countries a person becomes eligible for the full benefit of social security at 65. Therefore many actuarial calculations are based on that age.
