Ironically, Detroit could catch a break from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). There are thirteen members of OPEC, and most of them are in the Middle East. Collectively they supply about 40 percent of the world’s oil. When you supply 40 percent of a market you control the market and set the prices.
