Geotagging images

Few cameras are currently capable of automatically recording and embedding GPS (Global Positioning System) data in capture images, but it is likely that this will change over the next few years. For example, smartphones are already capable of embedding GPS coordinates in photos. In time we are likely to see this feature built-in as standard in more and more cameras. In the meantime, some photographers are choosing to use various kinds of GPS receivers to record GPS data and use separate software to take the tracklog data and “geocode” the captured image files with GPS data that specifies more or less the exact point where a photograph was taken from at a particular time.
