Reflecting on the Attributes of the Non-Negotiable: Using the Five R’s to Foster Belief

Building successful relationships with employees begins with believing in them, sometimes even before they believe in themselves.

Many individuals suffer from the common workplace fear that even if they work hard and stay at a company faithfully through good times and bad, they still might be expendable at the first sign of revenue loss. Some worry that they will never be as valued or well-compensated as newer employees. They therefore believe the only way to significantly increase their wages is to job-hop and hope for the best someplace else.

How can employers resolve these concerns? How can we, as leaders, demonstrate that we are as dedicated to our employees as we hope they’ll be to us? We have developed the following five R’s to give our employees a greater level of assurance about their commitment to stay:
