94. Focus on First Followers First

The best leaders know they may not have time to use all these influence skills. Even if they did, it would take a lot of effort unless only a very small number of followers were needed. Skillful leaders focus on first followers first. They make a conscious choice where to begin their influence efforts. They put their attention on the key players whose early support is essential for a specific leadership direction. They single out those whose first followership will generate a groundswell so others come along to support that direction.
