92. Bounce Back When People Won't Follow

The best leaders accept an important and often overlooked law of leadership: Not everyone will follow. Some will dissent, criticize, or otherwise put down the leader's direction. Exceptional leaders recognize dissension can reflect resistance to change. They use their ability to work through the resistance (skill 91) to address it. They know that dissension occurs because others have a different map of the territory regarding the need to lead.
